Season 2023

We welcome players of all ages, gender, backgrounds and levels of experience. Our existing players range in age from 18 to 49.  Some players had never kicked a football before their first training session. Some are now exceptional and you will learn a lot.

All you need to bring to your first Breakaways session is your enthusiasm, some boots and always a sense of humour.

Training Schedules & Events

The Breakaways home ground & training facility is the HJ Mahoney Oval, cnr Illawarra Road & Wharf St, Marrickville.

• 2023 Pre-season starts January 19

  • Season 2023 Training formally commence – 19 January (then Tues & Thus after)

  • Tuesday & Thursday nights 6:30-8:30pm

  • Newtown Breakaways train rain, hail or shine … but if ground closures are enforced by the council, an alternate gym session will be arranged and updates provided on the facebook page.

Teams

For the 2023 Sydney AFL season, NBFC aims to nominate:

• Womens: Division 1 and Division 3

• Mens: Division 2 and Division 3

  • The number of teams will depend on recruitment and returning players.

• Competition runs from April to August, games are played on Saturdays across Sydney.

• The 2023 season will start with Round 1 on Saturday 1 April.
