Our Inaugural Indigenous Round

This past weekend, Newtown celebrated our first ever Indigenous Round.

Aunty Norma delivers a welcome to country to Newtown and Parramatta players

The event

The design is a collaboration between current and past players, Carleah Flinders and Sacha Gratton. The design pays homage to our home ground, as well as our club history.

The sash across the jersey represents river - Goolay’yari (Pelican) - that Newtown trains alongside and comes together as one.

In the middle of the river are the gatherings; it represents the teams out on the field.

The band design is a representation of all of the players within the club showing that even though we are all from different backgrounds we come together as a unified group
intertwined with each other to perform at our best.

It shows our club’s history - with women leading the way by founding the club 20 years ago, and our men having our backs as we all strive for success on and off the field.
— Sacha Gratton

If you’d like a guernsey of your own to keep, you can buy one in the club shop. The proceeds from each sale will be put towards local First Nations organisations.
